How To Involve Your Dog In Your Wedding Day!
We get it, your furry friend is a huge part of your life and you want them to be part of your wedding day too! But a few things to note first:
Firstly, make sure your dog will be comfortable and will not overwhelmed by the event - no one wants an unhappy doggy!
Allow your dog to investigate the place first, let them sniff out the venue, so they're more relaxed on the big day.
Tell your guests about the plans, in case anyone has any allergies or any anxieties around dogs.
Most importantly check that your venue is pet-friendly! If they’re not, don’t worry, we have some inventive ideas of how you can still include your dog in your big day!
Walk you down the aisle
This is probably the most obvious and memorable way in which you can involve your dog on your wedding day - it makes a change for them taking you for a walk!
If they’re comfortable wearing a bow-tie or even a little Tux, why not let them fully embrace their bridal party role and get them suited and booted!
Or you could simply decorate their lead with flowers/jewels if they aren’t a fan of dress-up.
Flower Dog
No flower girl? No problem.
Get your pooch to carry a basket of flowers, whilst they follow you down the aisle (too cute) but please make sure that there’s no toxic flowers inside, in case they decide to take a little nibble…
Ring Bearer
This is a super easy one. Simply tie your wedding rings in a dainty little bow on their collar or attach a ring pillow - whatever your dog allows/would be comfortable with.
As you can see Mia had her precious cargo on her collar, ready for the big moment!

Dog Friendly Venues!
Now you’ve decided to have your pooch involved in your big day, you now need to know which venues allow dogs. Luckily, we’ve photographed a few weddings over our time across the North East and know just the places:
All of The Apartment Group venues are dog freindly (woohoo!) - Runa Farm, The Croft, Lartington Hall, Newton Hall and Le Petit Chateau.
Tyne Bank Brewery, where the lovely Willow (the Golden Retriever came to visit us)
Marshall Meadows Manor - Berwick Upon Tweed, where the lovely Mia was Ring Bearer
Parlour at Blagdon, Nortumberland
Shotton Grange, Northumberland
Derwent Manor Hotel, Allensford
Redworth Hall Hotel, Newton Aycliffe
But if it’s no pets allowed….
You can still incorporate your fur baby in your nuptials in the following inventive ways:
Have your cake topper include them alongside the happy couple
Include them on place holders/wedding stationary/wedding invitations
Have paw-print confetti
A customized pocket square with their little face on it!
Make them your wedding favour - A doggy biscuit perhaps?
Include them in your engagement photoshoot but make sure you have a wedding photographer who is used to working with animals (luckily we are, as we also do dog photoshoots, as well as wedding photography, so why not merge the two?)
Bring them along after you’ve said your vows for the wedding photography (some venues may not allow pets indoors but may on the grounds)
Just one last thing - we LOVE dogs and we LOVE weddings! So, if anyone is looking for a North East wedding photographer, you have two right here, who would love to capture your special day alongside your pooch!
